History was my favourite lesson at school and the Tudors have always been my favourite part of British history. Henry VIII and his six wives are popular with authors and there’s a whole publishing industry around that period of British history.
Here’s a few of my favourites and are well worth a read:
Hilary Mantel‘s trilogy about Thomas Cromwell (more on him in this month’s For the Love of Books round-up).
The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory: This is my favourite of all Gregory’s Tudor novels (and she’s written a fair few) and focuses on the life of Mary Boleyn, Anne’s older sister.
The Shardlake series by C.J. Sansom: I’m not usually a fan of mysteries, but these are brilliant! {The first book in the series came to my attention in 2011 when The Brainy One won a box of books.}
