Northala Fields is an award-winning country-style park located in Northolt, just down the road from the Polish War Memorial. It was opened in 2008 and consists of four artificial hills standing next to the Western Avenue, a major road in/out of West London, as well as several fishing lakes and a large field area. The hills were constructed using rubble from the demolition of the original Wembley Stadium, which was closed in 2000 and demolished in 2003.
The name Northala is how the old manor of Northall (Northolt) was recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086.
The hills are easy to climb (only one has a proper footpath) and on a clear day, the views are fabulous.
It might have taken us 10 years to explore Northala Fields, but we already know that it is somewhere we’ll return to … especially as we discovered there was a cafe …
