For The Love Of Books | Currently Reading April 2023

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez | paperback | I absolutely LOVED this book! This is so much more than “just” a romance read. This book is filled with humour, lots of heart, dysfunctional families and love and understanding. There is a great array of side characters, especially Grandpa and a three-legged dog. I also enjoyed how characters from her previous books receive an honorary mention. 🙂

I have read all of the offerings from Abby Jimenez and Yours Truly is my new favourite. This title will definitely be on my favourite reads of the year list.

Ice Breaker by Hannah Grace | Kindle | The basic premise is that the captain of the university’s ice hockey team ends up helping (and shocker, falling for) a competitive ice dancer. I enjoyed the story, although I didn’t particularly warm to our heroine for at least the first third of the story. I’d also like the main characters to be at least 10 years older.

I thought that the author dealt sensitively with topics like coercive control, disordered eating and gaslighting. She has marked the book as 18+, but I would categorise it more as YA.

If Only You by Chloe Liese | paperback | Another absolute gem from Liese in her Bergman Brothers series. With laugh out loud humour and tear provoking feelings. And autism. Plus two main characters to fall head over heals for.

As Monday is a UK Bank Holiday, the next scheduled post will appear on Tuesday, 2 May 2023.

  1. The most recent book I read was Tresspasses by Louise Kennedy. It was a very enjoyable and engaging book. It is set in N.Ireland during the “Troubles”. Harrowing at times but I could not put it down, I was awake until 3.30am finishing the book, I really wanted to know what happened. A long time since a book has had that effect on me.
