Wise words from Churchill. It’s timely, too. More tough times ahead!

And isn’t that a depressing thought!

Depends if You’re either a half-empty or half-full kind of person I suppose 😁

Resilience was a huge key issue at the school in which I used to work. It is far easier to thrive when everything is going your way but the strongest people are those who manage to keep going when things get hard. Our girls were always encouraged to be as resilient as they could possibly be. Such an important characteristic to have.

Resilience is indeed a good characteristic to develop/have – we need it so that we can endure life’s knocks.

Resilience is necessary to survive. I like to think of myself as a strong character but am often floored, temporarily,by the actions of others or events out of my control. I try to maintain empathy and compassion but it is not always easy.

A great word to describe you. You have been asked by life to really stretch this skill over the course of the last few weeks.
I often wonder if resilience can be taught by parents and/or teachers in school or is it strictly a lesson that life teaches? Are disappointments, failures the parents of resilience?

I think resilience is a combination of parental guidance and life experience.

That’s a splendid word, and one so necessary for our very uncertain times.

Resilience is certainly something to aspire to. I would like to hope I am resilient but there are days when I just don’t know if I can keep on keeping on. My mother loved to say “It’s a great life if you don’t weaken.” Then she would pause a minute and add “I’m beginning to weaken.” So am I, Mom. So am I.
