Sing-a-Long Christmas Carols | Royal Festival Hall 2022

After missing a few years because of the pandemic, The Boy and I returned to the Royal Festival Hall recently for the Sing-a-Long Christmas Carol Concert and had a brilliant time. Christmas jumpers and Santa hats were the order of the day.

The concert’s presenter was Jonathan Cohen, a noted composer, conductor and performer and Louise Dearman was the guest singer. There was plenty of community singing and many audience members were decked out in Christmas jumpers, twinkle lights and headbands sporting antlers or Christmas trees.

The best part of the entire concert was when we belted out Slade‘s Merry Xmas Everybody (which everyone knew from memory, no song sheet) while dancing in front of our seats and then segueing into Hark! The Heralds Angels Sing. Absolutely spine-tingling and surprisingly emotional.

The Boy said he had loved it, so I have my fingers crossed that we will return in December 2023.

  1. Sounds like such a fun concert – you can’t beat a bit of Slade to get everyone up singing! Sounds like there was a rich variety of songs and carols to get everyone in a Christmassy mood.
