Do you have a favourite read that you pick up every December? One that can only be described as cozy? Is it Christmas-themed or is December simply a plot starting point?
I re-read One Day in December by Josie Silver and have done so since 2019 (when I read it twice).
This page-turner tells the story of a girl who spots the love of her life at a bus stop, reconnects with him in a less than ideal circumstance, and ultimately has to figure out if he’s the one for her after all.
I know a four-years-long tradition is not a particularly long tradition, but every tradition has to begin somewhere, right? 🙂 Let me know in the comments if you have a favourite cozy read lined up for December.
I don’t think I ever read a book more than once! I must admit that I do like a Christmas themed book to read in December, something nice and easy and with a happy ending. I did read One Day in December (probably after you recommending it!) and enjoyed it. You’re right, all traditions have to start somewhere!

Do you really not reread favourite books? That is such an alien concept to me! How about randomly selecting a title on your Kindle and give it a whirl?

Oh yes, I do lots of Christmas themed reads & re-reads and I’ve just begun some of those. My Christmas re-reads include newly found last year; “Christmas Days, 12 Stories & 12 Feasts For 12 Days by Jeanette Winterson. I often re-read: The Stupidest Angel & The Christmas Cookie Club. My new Christmas reads this year is to to read all 4 in the series, beginning with The Winter Street by Elin Hilderbrand; ((2)Winter Stroll;(3) Winter Storms (4) Winter Solstice). Last year I started to include a youth or child’s Christmas story. Also I usually pick a new to me Christmas cookbook, this year on library request is Jamie Oliver’s Christmas Cookbook. …”oh the weather outside is frightful, but the reading inside is delightful, let it snow, let it snow” 🙂

Though I do re-read books, I haven’t ever had a December Read – and as I don’t know the book you’ve mentioned, I’m offer to Do A Search. My DD always maintains you only need to do something for the second time for it to be a tradition :). Still loving those socks …

Your daughter is indeed wise … I have another pair of reading socks, but those aren’t as polite and will not be appearing on the blog!!

I certainly enjoyed that book. But, I have so many books I want to read, I rarely re-read anything–unless it’s for my book club and it’s been several years since I read the current selection. Then, I do need to re-read it in order to participate in the discussion. I love to re-read O’Henry’s The Gift of the Magi–a short story, but it fits the bill during the holiday season for me!

I don’t know The Gift of the Magi but will be looking it up and adding it to my TBR list.

For Christmas 2017 my daughter and I gifted each other a copy of Nigel Slater’s Christmas Chronicles, since then we both treat it as an extended Advent Calendar read as it runs from November to the end of January. It’s not quite a page-a-day, but close enough, although we’ve never actually cooked any of the recipes!

I don’t know that one … maybe this is the year that you cook one of the recipes!
