Me on Monday | 20 June

It was a week of incredibly hot days and a negative test.

  • I had a few days of terrible backache – “How’s old Bert’s lumbago?”
  • I planted out four lavender bushes
  • I binged watched The Lincoln Lawyer and began series 2 of Sweet Magnolias, both on Netflix
  • I finally brought the garden umbrella out of storage
  • I sat outside with my lunch for the first time this year. The noise from all the local redevelopment and DIY forced me back inside within 10 minutes
  • We marked the 5th anniversary of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, a tragedy we had witnessed from our loft windows
  • We marked the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands
  • The Brainy One tested positive on day 11
  • The Brainy One tested negative on day 13
  • We met my sister-in-love to walk our dogs together
  • The Boy met his pal for breakfast 🙂

  1. What a shame you can’t sit outside and enjoy your garden at the moment because of the work going on nearby – not to mention the DIYers. The lady whose garden backs onto ours likes to use a strimmer on the edges of her lawn and boy does it take her a long time. Every time you think ‘ah, she’s finished now’ you realise she’s just having a rest and then that awful noise starts up again!
Thank goodness there was finally a negative test – I bet he was pleased to escape from the loft 😉
Hope that the back is feeling better now, it’s probably in pain from having to do everything around the house while TBO was recovering!

    1. Every Wednesday two of our neighbours have the gardeners in and the noise of strimmers, mowers, leaf blowers, etc. can last all day!
I think my bad back is a pulled muscle and I’m sure it’s come from carrying trays up and down three flights of stairs several times a day for what felt like days on end!

  2. Oh I do sympathize with your back pain & Deb is probably right, it’s all that stair stepping several times a day. Women’s hips are such that it is not easy for us to climb ladders or stairs. I hear you about noisy disrespectful neighbours. The Falkland 40 year anniversary must hold a very special place for you. Seems that 13 is now TBO’s lucky number 🙂

  3. I wondered if planting the bushes inflamed your back. My doctor once told me that 75% of back pain is caused by stress. In my case that is often the cause. Hope you are feeling back to normal now.

Cannot imagine seeing the horrific fire in person from your home. What a nightmare. I imagine it still haunts you to this day.

Glad for your husband’s recovery from Covid. We are both feeling better after a couple of weeks under the weather.
