I’ve just completed another Frugal February and I feel good about it. It’s been good practice to pause and actively consider whether a purchase is essential – most of the time, it hasn’t been. I’ve saved money, but what of the purchases I did make?
Purchases came under one category: scrapbooking supplies – mainly cardstock and patterned paper and glue. But you know, to my mind, those supplies were essential. 🙂
There were several occasions where I was able to resist making a purchase:
- I ignored the flyer about the Boden sale
- I resisted purchasing more books – I noted down four new titles I want to read (probably on Kindle)
- I resisted buying a new work skirt or two
- There were no slices of cake and pots of tea in our local dog-friendly café
So while Fugal February can’t be considered an unqualified success, I was much more aware of the purchases I did make and resisted ‘adding to basket’ without careful thought.
You did really well. I try and leave 24 hours between putting something in an online shopping basket to going back to buy it and very often I’ve changed my mind in the meantime! I bet you’re looking forward to your tea and cake at the cafe, made all the more delicious by 28 days gap between your last treat 🙂

The waiting 24 hours is a great idea and one that I should start doing!

I think achieving mindful purchasing is a win all around. Hopefully Boden will continue with the sales into March 🙂

I can live without a new Boden purchase, in the sale or not. 🙂
