It was a week of highs and lows, all told:
- I/we were able to see several friends and family members
- I spent a few hours tidying up in the front garden
- I was extremely emotional on Saturday*
Twin Towers seen from Ellis Island, 7 September 1995 Me on to of the World Trade Centre, early morning,

- The Brainy One and I stayed up late to watch Emma win the US Open.
- The Boy and I returned to the cinema for the first time since February 2020 – we saw the superb Jennifer Hudson in the excellent Respect**

** The Boy wanted to see Respect, so I booked the first screening of the day – 10.30 am. Apart from one other couple, we were the only punters, which made for a perfect return to watching new-release films in the company of strangers.
Funny thing: the couple arrived after us, looked at their tickets and sat themselves down in the seats next-but-one to The Boy. I said, “You’ve got to be kidding me!” We moved across the aisle and they eventually moved lower down the rows into the VIP seating. 🙂
Wasn’t the tennis brilliant! What a talented young lady who seems such a genuinely nice person too.
I did smile at your cinema experience – why on earth would they choose not to pick another seat when they saw how empty the cinema was? I don’t blame you for venturing into the VIP area!

Re the cinema thing, I think people become fixated on their seat allocation and it takes a while for them to understand that they can actually sit somewhere else if it’s not busy. 🙂

The match was fantastic! So impressed by the Cal way Emma acted. She is one talented player! Understatement!!!
We went to a large cinema to see Schindler’s List back in the day, there were 6 people sitting a few rows in front of us who talked throughout most of the film! I was cross.

People talking over a film in the cinema is hugely annoying!

September 11th, 2001 was certainly a day most of us remember exactly where & what we were doing that morning.
I find it amusing in the way, I want to study more way, of human nature that still wants to bond & be close to other humans even during a pandemic. Good for you for speaking up & then doing something about it.
Not that I watched, but I think both young ladies in the final tennis match & afterwards, showed a lot of sportsperson (good) behaviour – oh to be that fit!
