Four Fun Things

Portland Road, W11

The film adaptation of Bridget Jones is twenty! 🙂 I remember reading Bridget Jones’s Diary when I first moved to London in May 1997. (I first read a portion of it by looking over someone’s shoulder on the number 9 bus (Hammersmith to Aldwych) and tracked it down in a branch of Books, etc on Oxford Street.) I feel a re-read coming on …

A cute picnic basket (if a little pricey).

The Postie is due to deliver Beth O’Leary’s latest offering any day now.

A friend alerted me to the fact that one of our local pop-up vaccination centres was accepting walk-ins for second doses. The Brainy One and and I were in and out in under 10 minutes. Bish, bash, bosh! 🙂

  1. That pink door is so cute. I wonder if this was a creation because of pandemic life? That is so brilliant about being able to get your second dose of the vaccine. Bridget Jones is 20! Did you prefer the book to the movie? That picnic basket makes me want to take all the stuffed bears to the woods.

    1. I loved Bridget at the time, but obviously it’s not travelled into the 21st Century that well. I did enjoy the book, although I thought Renee Zellweger did a superb job as Bridget.

  2. Oh my goodness, walk-ins for second doses? Here in the shires, no such luck – they can’t even seem to get first does moving fast :(. Is vaccine envy a thing? Bridget Jones, oh my … there’s a blast from the past. I wonder how it would be received nowadays, or whether it’s very much of its time? What a fun front door – nicely spotted!

  3. How lucky to be able to get your second vaccine so easily. After reading this I did do a quick google on our local centre but no such luck here! We do have a booking for our next one though so only 4 more weeks to wait!

  4. Oh, that is a cute picnic basket! And how wonderful that y’all were in & out for the 2nd dose! We’re two weeks past out 2nd dose now. There’s plenty of opportunities to get the vaccine here now … but lots (lots!!) of people are choosing not to get it here.
