Very early on Sunday morning, The Boy Child and I headed into town to view this year’s Christmas windows. We travelled, masked up, on an almost empty Tube and found Central London’s streets quiet. An advantage of going in early on a Sunday morning. 🙂
We began at Knightsbridge for Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Harrods has gone for a gold theme, jewellery and watches. However, because we were there before the store was open, the windows were empty of said jewellery and watches.
Harvey Nicks has gone for a minimal bah humbug approach. At least the greenery over the main doors looks lovely. 🙂
From there we headed to Piccadilly for the windows at Fortnum and Mason. Every single year, the window dressers go to town and produce the best windows. Hands down, they are our favourite.
We also took in Bond Street and the Maddox Gallery on Maddox Street.
Assuming London doesn’t move into the higher Covid-19 tier, we’re now planning a late afternoon visit to appreciate the full Christmassy effect and to see the tree in Trafalgar Square.

B E A U T I F U L. I particularly like the photo of the red bauble in the foreground. It’s nice & it is comforting to know that you can keep some traditions during lockdown measures such as a trip to the high streets.

Oh I used to love going up to London to see the Christmas windows when I was younger, those window dressers are true artists aren’t they? How lovely to be able to go up there and get back before the crowds arrived.

Oh how lovely they look. Thank you for sharing them, I won’t get to London this year so I very much appreciate seeing your pics. I used to make my daughter to Oxford Street to look at the windows, Selfridge’s always did a fantastic display. I am talking 30 odd years ago!!

I agree that Selfridge’s does a good job. 🙂 Assuming London remains in Tier 2, we’ll be back in town later this month to see the lights in the early evening.

Hope you are able to see the tree in Trafalgar. Those windows displays are like art. So clever. I worked as Santa’s photographer in a downtown store in Memphis, Tennessee one Christmas. It was quite the experience. The children would come through the Santa’s workshop and then meet Santa and I would take their photo. Some of those Santas were a bit too friendly, if you know what I mean.
