Covid-19 | The Journal | Part 4

Not much has been added to the Covid-19 journal of late, because I’m using our Project Life album for the every day stuff. There’s only so much Lockdown that needs to be recorded, isn’t there?

I have, however, added Day in the Life from the end of May. I copied and pasted the text from my blog post and printed it out to fit 5×8 pages. I then added a run of washi tape and called it done.

The first family get-together in 12 weeks has gone into the album and is opposite a page of journaling documenting the first round in the easing of the lockdown.

I added a piece about non-essential shops reopening and pared it with a piece about the amazing discovery that a decades-old steroid, Dexamethasone, has been found to reduce Covid-19 deaths by up to a third for the sickest patients.

  1. It will be interesting to look back and see how and when the different parts of lockdown gradually reduced won’t it? I saw Dr Ranj on The One Show and he said it wouldn’t be the end of the world if a grandchild hugged their grandparent and I’m trusting Dr Ranj more than Boris when it comes to health issues! Roll on July 4th when we can organise seeing people without having to worry about cancelling if the weather doesn’t cooperate. However, I’m in no hurry to go to the pub and certainly won’t be going to a cinema! Can you imagine how busy pubs will be next weekend? And I think all those people who’ve struggled with knowing what 6′ looks like will be no better with 3′ either!

    1. We’re having the same thoughts as you – we’re in no rush to go back to the pub or to eat out, and the cinema is definitely not on our list of things we’d like to do in the next few weeks.
I’d also take Dr Ranj over Boris any day of the week!

  2. I have a day in the life scheduled for a date in July (purposely waited) & you have given me some ideas for that, thank you. I am finding that keeping up with my day to day album & things in my pandemic section & OLW are all blurring, which is quite how it is in real life. I like your noting of dexamenthasone, the photo is a good visual. I wonder why Boris picked July 4th? Our restaurants still can only open for patio sitting, no indoors yet. My confidence is still in click & collect ways of shopping (col).

    1. I have to confess that I don’t have much confidence in the government’s handling of the Covid crisis – we’ll be continuing to give bars, pubs, restaurants and cinemas a wide berth for the foreseeable future.

  3. Great job getting these pages in the album!

It seems practically everything is open here & lots (LOTS!) of people are out & about. This week there have been 5,000+ (!!!!) new COVID-19 cases each DAY just here in Texas alone. We’re definitely not venturing out much yet.

      1. Yes, they are starting to roll back some of the opening … although not all of them. They’ve closed the bars back down & reduced the capacity for retailers. I doubt they’ll go back to a lockdown because of the economy, but it is pretty scary around here right now & we are not getting out!

      2. The UK press is reporting what’s happening in the US and the reports are really worrying. We’re due to open hairdressers, pubs, bars and restaurants on Saturday …
