The 100 Day Project | Two Months In

Two months in and I love this project! It’s been a real blast down Memory Lane; remembering events and/or people I haven’t thought about in years.

I’ve been surprised by a number of things:

I write exactly as I think, without worrying too much about spelling and a correctly placed comma.

The more I’ve thought about the stories I want to tell, the more I’ve remembered.

Some names are obviously long forgotten.

Some names are only remembered by first name and where they worked – for example, Stevie from VASS (Visiting Aircraft Servicing Section).

Some names are only remembered by their nickname – for example, Taff (generic nickname for anyone from Wales), Geordie and Smithy.

Day 50 of the 100 Day Project

The Internet has been an excellent resource for fact-checking and sourcing images. I suspect that If I still used Facebook, my research would have been a whole lot easier.

  1. WOW that is such a fabulous project. Some clear memories; Agony Aunt (col); the grave site & I am moved by the term “known only by God”, that is powerful. I wonder if any friends that have F/B could use their F/B account to contact past mates, because you can send just a message to them without them becoming “friends”. It might be worth a chance.

    1. That’s a good idea about using my friends’ FB accounts – thanks. Thanks to my negative scanner, I’ve discovered a lot more photos than I thought I had. 🙂

  2. Thanks. I think I’ll have at least 2 fat and chunky journals by the time I’m finished. I’m still writing about my Germany posting and there are 3 more postings after that. Then there are the other categories: friends, boyfriends, fashion, cars, music and cinema memories, how I lived, memorable parties …

  3. This is just amazing! How wonderful to be putting this together and having it in the family … How are you going to record the other categories – a chapter each? in time sequence?
