For the Love of Books | Currently Reading May 2020

The Great Alone by Kristen Hannah: I first read this in early 2018 and reviewed it in my March round-up. I read it originally in electronic form , but purchased a paperback copy for the re-read, as The Brainy One was using my Kindle. It’s just as great a read the second time around.

One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid: This is another novel that I first read in early 2018 and mentioned in April’s round-up. I think that I’ve now read all that this author has written and her stories stand the test of time. Jenkins Reid, of course, wrote my favourite read of last year.

Death and Other Happy Endings by Melanie Cantor: Another re-read, this time from July 2019. Even though I now obviously know how the story unfolds, I still really enjoyed it.

  1. Do you know, I don’t think I’ve ever re-read a book! Maybe I re-think this. I’ve read a lot of books in the last 10 weeks – when you don’t have any home-schooling to schedule into your days it is very easy to spend an hour post-lunch on the patio with a book!

    1. I’m truly astonished that you don’t re-read books! What about your favourites? I can’t recall how many times I’ve re-read my all-time favourite, A Town Like Alice. And last year, I read Daisy Jones and The Six at least three times.

  2. Thanks again for recommendations. Sometimes a re-read of a book is like meeting up with friends for tea or drink & having a good chat. I have about 4 books I have re-read more than twice.

  3. I’ve been in a re-reading mode lately, too! I just picked one shelf from our front room bookshelves (all Christian fiction) and am reading through them all. 🙂 It’s been 10+ years since I’ve read some of them & I’m really enjoying it!

      1. Hope you get to them at some point … I had a cat years ago that I named after one of the characters … Murphy.
