I was doing my usual Winter cull of The Boy Child’s bookshelves and thinking how their contents have changed over the years. Looking back at me now are a ton of reference books (mostly relating to aviation), Tom Gates, Alex Rider and every one of the stories by David Walliams.

I miss the picture books and the stamina needed to read Dr Seuss aloud (The Brainy One was much better at it then me. My forte lay with Hairy McClary and Harry and the Bucket Full of Dinosaurs). And it while I was muttering lines from Green Eggs and Ham to myself, I realised that I still quote lots of Dr Seuss to The Boy Child and anyone who will listen.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still of the opinion that Dr Seuss was bonkers and possibly on the spectrum, but there’s no denying that he was a genius at drawing style, verse rhythms and imaginative power.
Are you a fan of Dr Seuss? Do you have a favourite quotation?
All three of those quotes are wisdom. I have friends that LOVE Dr Seuss & say they had a child only so they could go to Seuss Landing. I’m more of a Pooh & Gang quote follower, although when I count with the kids, I do tend towards, 1 fish, 2 fish, red fish, blue fish …

I never read Dr Seuss to my children, but have discovered them since then. Such fun ‘nonsense’ poems!

I never really read the Dr. Seuss books much, although I do like many of the quotes.

I think he grows on you; he’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

Dr. Seuss was never part of our childhood. Some of the quotes I read (the ones you’ve quoted included) I do like, and thank-you for the reminders. I came to Winnie The Pooh late, but he is often quoted in our household.
