We watched/are watching Dracula (“I’m undead, not unreasonable”), Wisting and The Trial of Christine Keeler.

I listened to an interview with Kathleen Keyes. Hankies at the ready. (This is obviously not a fun thing, but worth reading all the same.)

I came across a perfect quotation for book lovers: “Strange, isn’t it? To love a book. When the words on the pages become so precious that they feel like part of your own history because they are.” (Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern; she wrote The Night Circus.)

Tilly celebrated her first year of being a part of our family.

  1. That is a very good quote. The sign of a good book is when you are sad to read the last page because you want it to go on forever.
    We tried watching Dracula but that first episode was a bit dark and we couldn’t get into it. Wisting was a totally different story – we really enjoyed that. I wonder if there will be any more? Christine Keeler was on our watch list too but it seemed to drag on a bit and I have to confess that there are a few episodes on our BT box that have been recorded but not watched yet. Are you watching the David Tennant Deadwater Fell? I’m enjoying that at the moment too.
    I do hope that Tilly’s first anniversary was marked with a trip out to her favourite coffee shop!

  2. Happy ‘Arrival Day’ to Tilly – and all of you! She seems to have become a much loved and valued member of your family. Was she with you on your visit to that lovely house/gardens in your top photo? I’ve not caught up with Wistings, but seeing your and Deb’s positive review, I must look it up. Your quote is wonderful – some books indeed seem to live inside our very DNA.

  3. I’ve seen the advertising for the Trial of Christine Keeler coming soon, but not the other two shows. I have the Starless Sea on request from the library, I’m #6 on the wait list.

    Happy adoption anniversary to Tilly; can you image life without her 🙂

    I’m writing that quote down – it’s so true, some books, some characters just resonate within you.

    1. The Christine Keeler one I thought was really good. As for the other two, it depends on whether you like Gothic horror paired with black humour, or Scandi drama.
      Nope, can’t imagine life without Tilly! 🙂
      It’s a terrific quote, isn’t it and so true.
