September means that the Season of mist and mellow fruitfulness is approaching. It also means that Shimelle is running her annual class, Learn Something New Every Day.
Like the last few years, I’m recording what I’ve learned throughout September here.

Day 26: Chasing up estimates for work you need done is demoralising. Whatever happened old-fashioned customer service?
Day 27: People will queue jump and then be rude when challenged.
Day 28: Even though I enjoyed a rare night out with The Brainy One, I still missed participating in the Strictly Group chat. 🙂
Day 29: There is a Games of Thrones tapestry in Bayeux.
Day 30 : Bath towels are acceptable as a birthday gift if that is what the recipient asks for.
Day 26 & 27 are somewhat tied together in many ways … all age groups are feeling quite entitled, thankfully not the norm (mostly). That tapestry is quite impressive. Oh yes to new bath towels, a nice big fluffy set!

The bath towels were well received, happily!
I hadn’t considered the link between days 26 and 27, but you’re quite correct.

I’m with you on these! We are still waiting for a quote from someone to just clear leaves out of our gutters and painting the soffit boards from 2 years ago despite being assured that yes although it was a small job, he was interested in quoting for it. Needless to say, we haven’t been holding our breath and gave the job to someone who gave us a quote there and then!
Birthday gifts should always be what someone asks for, even if it is something household related. A couple of years ago I asked for a Kenwood mixer and Paul made me promise that I would never, in the future, say ‘do you know what he bought me? A food mixer!’ You can be more extravagant if you ask for something as a gift!

When we got married, we agreed that domestic appliances were acceptable as gifts, but only if requested.
And I’m still chasing tradesmen for estimates. The established firms don’t want the job because it’s not big enough and the sole traders don’t have space until the new year, and that’s if they get back to you in the first place.
