Keeping our Summer Check List in mind and the idea of a slow summer, on a recent warm and sunny afternoon, I suggested a visit to Osterley Park. The parkland welcomes dogs and the pop-up ice cream stalls were out in force.

We were there for about 2 hours and it was ideal – both The Boy Child and Tilly ran around like mad things, although only one was rewarded with ice cream, and I was able to steal 10 minutes to myself in the gardens.

Why is it that when you visit somewhere locally that you haven’t been to in months, you wonder why that is.
Isn’t that the truth? Looks like a lovely place to spend a couple of hours.

It’s a fab place – a little bit of countryside under the Heathrow flight path!

That is such a beautiful home & looks so worth the second visit. I too often wonder how we miss some local gems, but I’ll just chalk it up to the right time for the right place.

Osterley has now become a favourite for us …

One summer when our children were young (they are all adults now) we were very low on funds. We would not be able to take any vacations. Instead we made a list of local places to visit and events to attend. It is a summer that my children still speak fondly about today. We have so much near us that we can enjoy but seem to overlook.

I had a childhood like that – plenty of day trips to a museum, the beach or a historic city that was local to us. I have great memories of those summer outings!

It looks like a beautiful day! There are some local parks I’m planning to visit for walks this fall … but with temperatures over 100 degrees this month, I’m staying indoors! 🙂

I hope you get to enjoy plenty of walks when the temperature is bearable.
