Guernsey

We made it …

During the May half-term, we travelled to the island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands for a few days. Unlike our visit to Channel Islands last year, the weather was not willing to play ball, and we were diverted to Jersey for the night because of fog. We eventually arrived on Guernsey a mere 15 hours later than planned.

But once there, we found a island community that was both welcoming and full of history. We covered a lot of ground and I’ll be sharing our adventures over the next few days.

We learned a valuable lesson this holiday – the Channel Islands has it’s own micro-climate and fog in the late Spring and Summer is not uncommon. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

  1. That’s the advice we use to receive from my Gran … “Hope for the best …” she would add “so work with what you get” I did col at TBC’s Welcome to Guernsey photo. Yeah an adventure to look forward to.

  2. The Channel Islands are definitely well worth a visit, each of them quite different and isn’t it strange how they somehow feel ‘foreign’ whilst also feeling British? Right down to the unpredictability of the weather!

  3. Oh, I’m looking forward to hearing more. We almost planned a trip to Guernsey & Jersey for this summer (but decided on a trip to Prince Edward Island for this year). Have you read The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society? That’s where I first heard of the island and have wanted to visit it ever since – so much history & a beautiful locale.

That photo of you & TBC is wonderful!!!
