TGIF | With A Difference

The lovely Mary-Lou of Patio Postcards blog pointed me recently in the direction of Brené Brown‘s new weekly gratitude practice, TGIF. Most of us would recognise TGIF as an acronym for Thank God It’s Friday, but in Brené’s world it stands for Trusting, Grateful, Inspired and Fun.

Trusting: that The Boy Child is remembering everything he’s learned during travel training.

Grateful: for unexpected last minute invitations and dog walker friends willing to take Tilly at short notice.

Inspired: by the D Day veterans who returned to Normandy for the 75th Anniversary Commemorations.

Fun: to have a text conversation with my brother while simultaneously glimpsing him in a TV program.

What four things would make up your TGIF?

  1. I like this too! And just for the fun of it, here is my TGIF (even though it’s Tuesday): Trusting: that my high school kid is ready for his end of year exams because he says so + Grateful: for avocado toasts for solo dinners + Inspired: to record old memories in the baby mini album I’m working on + Fun: spending time binge watching “Parenthood” while hubby is traveling
Thank you for sharing this exercise! This was fun! 🙂

  2. I am late to be reading this, but really like the concept and your fun photo is a perfect accompaniment. Mine? Trusting that my DD’s trip up north for a wedding a fortnight before her due date is not going to end in labour; grateful for health and energy; inspired by all the thoughtful and enjoyable blogposts I’m reading as I catch up; fun – not going to work!
