An American Marriage by Tayari Jones (Kindle): I read this one without knowing anything about it because it was one I saw it popping up everywhere. This is an emotional, raw and very well written story that is different from what I’ve been reading lately. Beautiful, compelling writing that really gets to the heart of complicated human relationships. A line I loved : “But mostly my life is good, only it’s a different type of good from what I figured on.” This is something most of us can relate to, I think.
The Alice Network by Kate Quinn (Kindle): I enjoyed learning a bit about something I don’t ever recall covering in History at school: female spies in World War I. The story switched between World War I and 1947, with one character appearing in both times. After a slow start, I found myself gripped with what might happen next. I could totally see this ending up as a movie if it’s not in process already.
I also read Reader, I Married Me by Sophie Tanner.
Always appreciate your book recommendations & reviews. Good quote from An American Marriage.
