September means that the Season of mist and mellow fruitfulness is approaching. It also means that Shimelle is running her annual class, Learn Something New Every Day.
Like last year, I’m recording what I’ve learned throughout September here.
Day 11: I can walk home from his new school in around 30 minutes. Think of what that does to my daily step count.
Day 12: You don’t know what you don’t know. I learned something today that everyone assumed I already knew. Turns out I didn’t.
Day 13: I really don’t understand how the Inland Revenue works. If you do, will you please tell me?
Day 14: The timing for the end of the school day appears to be flexible.
Day 15: I am able to approach strangers and ask if I can take their photo.
Day 12 sounds intriguing ! And I don’t think anyone really knows how the IR works, and just when you think you do, they change things. My husband had a morning of angry muttering while doing his return online a week or so back!
Some schools do the flexible end of lessons to try and minimise chaos in the corridor when the end of period bell rings, especially in the beginning of the September term when the new Y7s are still a bit overwhelmed by the all the crowds of marauding teenagers. You can almost guarantee that they will be out early on the days you are running late 😉

Learning can be fun … I need to get 30 minutes worth of walking in – good reminder. I’m intrigued about the photo of the stranger.

Oh, it does sound like the step count is going to be great with the new school! And I’ve never heard of Inland Revenue?

The Inland Revenue, proper name is Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), is the tax man … the same as your IRS. 😜
