This Weekend I …

The early hours of Saturday morning brought the first frost to our part of West London but, as we woke to blue sky and sunshine, we didn’t allow the cold to deter us.  Our destination was the beautiful setting of Waddesdon Manor, the former home of the Rothschild family.  It passed to the National Trust  in 1957 and is now one of their most visited properties.  It’s easy to see why.IMG_6489We spent a lovely couple of hours strolling around the beautiful gardens and examining the displays at the Christmas market.  Interspersed, of course, with stops for sustenance.

Sunday passed by in the blur of our usual routine – a walk in the park, finishing up homework, a swimming lesson and the Strictly results show.

How was your weekend?

  1. That is a beautiful home & so glad it is being cared for. Our Weekend went by in a blurr & yet it doesn’t feel like much got done, oh yes I got Christmas cards made! Happy week.

  2. I believe the Rothschild family still live there – in an apartment – and will continue as long as there is a descendant. I would need to read the NT book again. Even the richest families come to a point where ostentation doesn’t look good LOL.

  3. Wow, that is a lovely place! We celebrated Thanksgiving last week, then spent the weekend putting up Christmas decorations and just relaxing around the house (with one little outing to see The Justice League movie). Hope your December is off to a great start!
