It’s Just Not Cricket

The Boy Child and his classmates play cricket
in the park across from the school
on Thursday afternoons in the summer term.
The Bears versus the Eagles.
There’s something about the sound of ball on willow
that makes me think that summer is around the corner.
The sound of thirty plus children calling out in excitement.
The sight of thirty plus children dressed in white from head-to-toe.
What’s not to love?
The pooch and I went out early for pick-up.
I was armed with the Big Lens, with plans to let the teacher know I was there.
You know what I’m going to say, don’t you?
Yep, they weren’t there.
I had to make do with post-match refreshments.
