My sister and I took The Boy Child to the cinema.
A classic example of how things initially look and feel the same, but are in fact, completely different to the usual experience.
“Wow, it’s like a palace!” said The Boy Child.
He wasn’t wrong.
Fancy an ice cream?
Take your pick.
I have never seen a cinema offering so much choice of food nor how much food people were buying.
The cost was extremely good value: $10 for an adult in what would be considered a VIP seat in the UK.
The only bad thing? The Starbucks concession.
They might be selling the coffee, but the kids making it are not baristas by any stretch of the imagination.
Probably a good job that we picked up coffee on the way out and not on the way in.
Think I might be over awed too

My goodness, that is indeed palatial. I think I'd have enjoying sitting looking at all that as much as seeing a film! You do give your boy such great experiences …

Wow! Certainly different. I think we might overdose on icecream

Looks like fun!
And the concessions point out a sad fact about Americans. We love our junk food and think nothing of imbibing in between meals. In other words, we eat too much and are out of shape.
We do have good movie theatres, but my favorites are the ones built in the 1920's known as movie palaces. There are ones that have been restored across the country. And if you ever come back to Florida, I would gladly take you to some! 🙂

Ruth!
I just realized that your sister in Houston is Liz!!!
Boy, have I been out of the loop or what!
I hope she is enjoying living in Texas. I wish I were closer so I could invite her to tea.

Whoa, nothing at all like that in North Carolina and our concessions are the age old popcorn and candy. Hope the movie was much to TBC's liking!
