Out of the night that covers me, black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be for my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance my head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate, how charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate.
I am the captain of my soul.
I Am Invictus.
These two little girls rightly had their moment in the spotlight.
Shame about the grammatical error.

well that made me cry
I get choked up whenever I see this in the media. I'm sure you are similar but coming from a family with a military background makes it all the more poignant. I have been watching it each day on telly and it is just astounding what these athletes have done.
Looks like you had an amazing time.
Wow – how fabulous that you were able to see this in person! TFS
Truly amazing and every athlete so positive. Pity the BBC didn't make mention of the Games during their evening sports news.
I have been reading about this and following the games and Prince Harry in the news. So very moving.
How fantastic to go and see this in person. Very special games with very special people.
Just catching up Ruth….I have heard so many complaints that ther's not enough coverage of these games on TV…they should have put you in charge!!
What an experience ,,thanks for sharing your photos of such a memorable event.
