A Perfect Day

Some days turn out to be perfect.
Today was such a one.
I met ten other ladies for lunch at Maggie Jones’s in Kensington.  Some I already know in real life, some I know through blogging and scrapbooking and some I met for the first time.
We were all there for one purpose; to meet and spend time with Deb and Carrie.

We introduced ourselves and tried to recall how we met each other.  We decided that the common denominator was Shimelle.
We remembered absent loved ones.

When I began scrapbooking, I never imagined for a moment that I would connect with like-minded others and form friendships that would began in cyber space and end in reality.

I know that this post is a little self-indulgent, but I wanted to highlight just how easy it is for cyber friendships to become real life friendships

Don’t be put off by the distance involved.  Deb and Carrie were in London from Arizona, Helena came down from Edinburgh and Alison flew in from Spain.
I won’t continue to bore you with more photos from today or about how fabulous everyone was,but do think on this: the Internet is truly a wonderful and magical place when used for the good.

  1. Sorry I couldn't be there, maybe next time – for I feel sure there will be a next time! I loved meeting Deb, Carrie and Alison yesterday. Everyone was as lovely in real life as I expected them to be. Hooray for blogs and Internet and online Scrapbooking classes that put us all in touch with one another!

  2. You wouldn't bore me in the slightest. Ever. I have been happily enjoying all the pictures on my blog reading tour today..and trying hard not to feel horribly envious that I wasn't there too!!

  3. It was wonderful to meet everyone in person yesterday. I was amazed at how much chatter and laughter there was. It warms my heart how we all came together to meet Deb and Carrie and to honour Marti.

  4. I couldn't agree with you more. I think the thing that struck me most was that it didn't feel like we were meeting for the first time, it was just meeting up with good friends 🙂 Lovely to meet you Ruth and I look forward to catching up again soon. xx

  5. :o) Oh, this post makes me so happy, Ruth. The photos are wonderful, and your account of our time together is perfect.

I was telling Doug this afternoon how very comfortable we all were together – not at all like women meeting for the very first time. Thanks so much for your help in organizing our lunch at Maggie Jones's. :o)

  6. Hey Ruth ~ Would you mind sending me the photo of Mel and I that you have in this post? I'm putting a mini-book together and didn't end up with a good photo with Mel. :o)

    Thanks, friend! xo
