The church at the end of our road opened its tower to the public yesterday.
The stairs were incredibly narrow and steep.
But well worth it in order to try out the big lens.
Look closely and from left you will see: St Paul’s Cathedral with Swiss Re building behind it, Canary Wharf, the Shard (currently under construction and looking like a helter-skelter) and the London Eye.
DS couldn’t quite manage the steepness of the stairs, although he had a good try and remained at ground level with DH; he (DS) was rewarded later with raspberries from our good friend A.
What a view! I was just reading about the Shard yesterday, so I'm feeling quite pleased I knew what you meant 🙂

How cool to see the view from way up there! And those “stairs” look more like a ladder! Yikes.
Super cute photo of DS having fun and giggling. :o)

That looks amazing 🙂 And isn't it fascinating to get a glimpse inside of somewhere that isn't usually open to the public? At our church fair we were able to go up into the bell tower, and it was just so interesting! 🙂 (No view though lol!)

Ruth, I have looked, gazed and squinted several times and still can't make any of those landmarks … blind as a bat I must be!
Anyway, great shots and a great opportunity to have that view. 🙂
