Crocs

The person who invented Crocs should, in my opinion, be locked up by the Fashion Police and have the key thrown away.

They are truly hideous things and I believe that Anna Wintour, editor of US Vogue, agrees with me.  Goodness, who’d ever thought that AW and I would agree on anything fashion-related, given that I am frequently in need of the Fashion Police myself …
However, put them on the feet of a 4-year-old and they achieve cult status in the world of cuteness.

In my opinion.

I can almost forgive the Crocs’ designer for the error of his ways.
Almost.
What about you?  Are you a fan of Crocs?

  1. I hate Crocs too. They are horrid to look at, feel awful and just look so uncomfortable (I dislike shoes without backs!).
However, alot of girls wear them at work and I am seriously considering getting a cheap Primark pair just for when I shower clients at work….I am sick of having wet trainers for the day!!!! lol

  2. They are truly hideous in my opinion and for those of us with very narrow feet it would be easier and probably more comfortable to wear the box they came in. Cute for little ones but that's about were it ends.

  3. I hate crocs too, remind me of the shoes the scrub sisters used to wear in theatre when I was a student nurse. Considering I hated theatre, that is not a good thing. However, they are comfortable and I guess they do have a place. As dogmatix said if you have a job where your feet are getting wet, or if you are swimming, going to the beach etc. I dont own a pair at present, but have in the past.

  4. I agree that they are about the ugliest shoes on the planet. The few I know who wear them swear they are so comfortable. I'll just have to take their word for it!

  5. They are perfect for the beach – they are beach shoes aren't they? why would anyone wear them in the street?
Ah! as I wrote that I realised that it was a fashion thing taken up by chavs

  6. No, I hate them too! They are ugly and bad for your feet and your back. I won't buy them on principle! (even if they look cute on kids' feet – just think what long-term wear would do to those same feet though!)

  7. I bought a pair for working in the garden….but gave up on them, as every time I looked down my feet looked deformed! I had 'thong' ones though, and liked them…great for walking round New York!

  8. Yep, me too – don't like them on adults, but they are so cute on little ones! And like Carrie said, there are some new styles that are actually really cute (because they don't look like Crocs). Only thing I'm not crazy about on those is that they are plastic and your feet don't “breathe”…

  9. Cute on kids – bleh on adults!
But, I admit to having a pair … my sister bought them for me when I was pregnanat with the 8 yr old … me feet swelled terribly and it was winter and too cold for sandal type things … hmmm, they didn't do much for my preganant/post pregnant fat lady look with big feet! She was trying to be kind though!

  10. ahhhh I shall go agt the fashionista commenters and say I have owned three pair. With my feet and knee issues over the last three years they were the only shoes I could wear and not be in pain. They are extremely comfortable and honestly I decided quite a few years ago I could care less what my shoes look like as long as they feel good and my knees feel good.I rarely wear them since the double knee surgery but I am hanging on to one pair for those days I need them. This coming from a woman that used to wear high heels with jeans.

  11. They are useful in the yard, the beach & down by the river but that is it. They are very comfy but would not be my choice for everyday wear because I think they are ugly.

My kids love them, Crocs are their summer shoe of choice

  12. While I completely agree they are ugly as can be, I love my Crocs. I don't wear them out for work or anything like that but if I'm running out to take the garbage to the bin or grab the mail they are perfect. They go on and off so easily and it is simple to just leave them next to the door. I was living in Colorado (the state where Crocs are based) when I was pregnant and let me tell you, they saved my life. I couldn't reach my toes to tie most shoes and I couldn't wear sandals in the winter. My winter Crocs were a life saver. Also, on occasion I do wear them to the grocery or when I'm going through carpool but then I wear a few other things that would have the fashion police putting me behind bars. So, I'll defend Crocs in certain situations. However, I HATE flip flops.
