~ Homeless man sleeping rough in the doorway of the church at the end of our road ~

It did cross my mind whether it was the done thing to photograph someone sleeping rough, especially when they don’t know they are being photographed. But, sadly, rough sleepers are becoming an all too common occurrence in my bit of West London, so I decided that in order to give an accurate portrait of daily life in the 365:2010 project, he should be included.
Would you have taken the photograph?

  1. That's a really good question. I honestly don't know. But I do think you are building up a fascinating portrait of daily life. I know I've said this before, but I love how well observed your photos are.

  2. Hm…I don't know if I would have taken the photo…maybe in the name of the daily life project though! Either way, it's a nice photo that you took and definitely tells a story about the times we live in.

  3. I feel so terrible for the homeless here in Alberta where it gets down to -30c in Winter, sometimes -50c with the windchills. I can't imagine sleeping outside in those temperatures 😦

I think it's a great picture – an important picture – people NEED to see this – you can't always look away.

I don't know what the answer is though as I don't think it will ever go away completely.
