~ Nature: survival of the fittest ~
The Common has an avenue of trees, which are Horse Chestnuts, and this avenue roughly splits the Common into 60:40. On my dog walking route yesterday, I noticed yellow notices had appeared on 2 trees. Ever Mrs Nosy, I took a closer look at them this morning; the two trees will be coming down soon, as it appears that they are infected with a deadly wood decaying fungus. Nice.

  1. How sad. I love trees – there are so few nice trees over here. So few OLD trees here too. I think there is one horse chestnut tree downtown in Edmonton that people talk about. I guess it's too cold. My Mom sends the kids conkers each Fall – and acorns which we try to grow!
