At The 11th Hour Of The 11th Day Of The 11th Month …

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
‘For The Fallen’ ~ Laurence Binyon

  1. I get chills every time I read that verse. It is so beautifully stated and very poignant. I feel such an enormous debt of gratitude to our military because while they put themselves in harm's way, we sit here safely going about our business, free to persue our own passions, free to enjoy our lives and our liberties. It's just so great a debt we owe them, and they ask so little in return. I'm glad the blogging community has rallied to thank them. As the prayer book says, “It is meet and right so to do.”
