After dropping off DS at nursery this morning, I headed off to the Central Library for this month’s meeting of my book group. I missed last month’s meeting because I was here, but Linda the Librarian kindly put the set book aside for me – The People’s Act of Love by James Meek. Bless her, she needn’t have bothered! It’s set in Siberia in 1919 and I really struggled with it, giving up on it about a third of the way through. It received a mixed reception in discussion this morning so I don’t feel as though I’ve missed out on a literary classic! This month’s read is The First Casualty by Ben Elton.
