My not-quite-a-toddler has his first proper tantrum this afternoon – it was not an enjoyable occasion! He refused to have his afternoon nap so by the time we came back from the park & it was almost his teatime he was becoming unbearable. All around the park he’d wanted to hold his favourite teddy but no sooner had he got hold of her he threw her over the side of the pram. I lost count how many times I had to pick her up. She only went through the wash yesterday as well!! When I finally refused to give her back, DS started crying and wailing very loudly and ended up with tears & snot all over his face. Once we were home I let him have playtime before tea; he then proceeded to demolish the CD rack and to eat the soil out of the Mother-in-Law’s Tongue (what he didn’t eat he threw all over the table) while sitting in the magazine rack! He followed this up with refusing to eat his cheesy tuna pasta (which I’d stood and cooked this afternoon) and throwing it to the dog, who didn’t mind at all! He’s now corralled in the hall while I drink a cuppa and take a time out. Bath time is next and I think it will then be milk in his cot followed by early lights out “for all Chinese”.
